We are big believers that preparation is key. In order to accurately capture your wedding day, we need to get to know you. To understand the nuances of your relationship takes time. We love connecting over social media, organising pre-wedding drinks and quizzing you on your past relationships! Where given permission, we seek friendship over stiff necked professionalism.
There are certain moments in the day where professionalism is crucial. To capture those truly stunning shots, it’s our responsibility to properly support and inform you. This is why, shortly after booking we send out a comprehensive client guide. This covers the whole process, from initial booking to your future golden wedding anniversary. It advises on logistics, lighting and everything in-between.
Once you’ve chosen us, you can be sure from the outset that nothing is too much trouble. You’ll have our emails, mobile numbers, the lot.
The lead up
Our approach is considered but never contrived. Creatively inspired but never convoluted. Honest human stories to last a lifetime.
The great skill with weddings is knowing when to be present and when to be discreet. We promise discretion and intuition in equal measure. The great art with weddings is taking time to understand one's surroundings. We always arrive a little earlier than promised, in order to get a lay of the land and to ensure we are fully informed. Throughout the day we are entirely occupied with absorbing the environment around us. This is crucial to enable us to capture the atmosphere and accurately document the experience of your day.
We will take the time to capture the unique details of your day such as the perfume you are wearing, flowers you're holding and those table dressings you've spent so long considering. With your agreement, we will disappear for a short amount of time to capture some of those more private couples moments. We will be with you from morning preparations all the way through until the evening entertainment.
We'd like to be one of the party, not just bystanders. where given permission, we would rather risk being overly familiar than cold and removed. Weddings are full of joy. We want to fuel the atmosphere, not draw from it.
The wedding day
At Studio Westlake everything begins and ends with the same question: “What did it feel like?”
Although creative vision is crucial to all that we do, above all we herald authenticity as the greatest characteristic to our films and galleries. Within those first few weeks following the event, we take time to consider everything about the celebration. We process our footage, we refine that which best represents the day and thus begin to form the skeleton of our films. We carefully colour grade each individual frame. We skilfully master the audio, search far and wide for the most appropriate tracks and then… We build. This usually takes between 30 and 60 hours.
Once this is all done the films undergo a rigorous sifting process. Various members of the team watch through and further refine our finished product. Finally with gleaming smiles and a spring in our step… We send to you, our clients, the finished product.
We genuinely only release our creations when we are truly happy with the results. No film is the same. No gallery is reproduced. Just as each wedding is unique, so too are our completed works.
